Hello, I’m Candisse McCormick. I’m the Bridges to the Future Program Coordinator for Calgary & surrounding area. I work out of my home office in the community of High River, Alberta. At 15 months old I was diagnosed with the muscle disease known as Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), therefore I understands the difficulties of having a physical disability. I never let my SMA stand in the way of letting me reach any and all of my goals. I have learned that anything is possible; it just needs to have some adaptations usually. In my spare time, I love spending time with my friends doing anything and everything, such as shopping, road trips, concerts, and camping.
Over the years I have spent a lot of time volunteering for many things; the main one being with Muscular Dystrophy Canada. In the past I’ve participated in many Telethons and other major fundraising events; and for the last 2 years I’ve been on the youth committee for planning the Muscular Dystrophy Canada Annual Family Retreat for families in Alberta affected by neuromuscular disorders. I’m now looking forward to working with all the wonderful staff and volunteers within Muscular Dystrophy Canada and Bridges to help youth with physical disabilities make the transition to adulthood!

Hi! My name is Nate Schwartz and I am the youth coordinator on Vancouver Island. If you have questions about what services are out there, no matter what the topic. I can help you figure it all out.
A little bit more about me:
I’ve lived in Victoria for, as I like to put it, “All of my meaningful life.” My educational background is in Business Administration that specializes in marketing and management – I have aspirations of getting a degree in marketing in the future. During my free time, I’ve become somewhat of a fixture in the disabled swimming community. Luckily for me, I have met a number of people through this experience in sport and had the opportunity to travel to many unique places as a result. I’ve even made nationals the last couple years of my swimming career, and hope to one day represent this country in the Paralympics. I also have begun coaching younger swimmers in the sport and I’ve found it very rewarding.
